How To Make A Trifle

Traditional Trifle Recipe

The trifle recipe below is for a traditional trifle.

Ingredients:

  • A packet of trifle sponges or a sponge cake cut into strips 2.5 cm thick, 2.5 cm wide and of a length to fit the bowl you are using for your trifle. If you use sponge cake try to find one with a dense consistency as it will hold together better and give a more pleasing texture when soaked in jelly.
  • 1 packet of raspberry or strawberry jelly.
  • Fruit – traditional choices are tinned peach slices and fresh strawberries and raspberries.
  • 500 ml custard.
  • 250 ml cream.
  • 250 ml sherry.
  • Almond slivers.
  • Grated chocolate.

Method:

1- Make up your custard according to the manufacturer’s instructions and allow it to cool.

2- Make up the jelly and allow it to cool so that it is just stating to set. Using jelly that is beginning to thicken will protect the sponge from becoming overly soggy.

3- Place a layer of  trifle sponges or sponge-cake strips so that they cover the base of a large glass bowl.

4- If you are using sherry in your trifle tip half of it over the sponge. Sherry is an individual choice, children, particularly, will prefer a trifle without this ingredient.

5- Place a layer of fruit on top of the sponge.

6- Pour your semi-liquid jelly into the bowl so that it soaks the sponge and just submerges the fruit.

7- Place the bowl in the fridge until the jelly has set.

8- Remove from the fridge and add a layer of custard about 3 cm deep.

9- If your bowl is deep enough you can repeat steps 3 – 8 to make a double-decker trifle.

10- Whip the cream until it is stiff and standing in peaks and spread evenly over the top of your trifle.

11- Decorate with almond slivers and grated chocolate.

My Idol

My idol in my life is Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat. I like his attitude very much. I heard a   lot of story about him very much. One of the stories about him I would like to share is, his salary for  being the Chief Minister of Kelantan was not use for his own sake but he spent it to the charity         council. What a kind hearted leader! He is also a great teacher of the citizen. Every night morning on  Friday, he will always give a talk about the religion knowledge at Kota Bharu Town. I always joint     his class when I was at home. May Allah give him a good health and lead a longer live. So, he can     always give the best lessons to the citizens.

About My Birth Place of Kelantan

Some say that the word Kelantan comes from a modified version of the word gelam hutan, which is a swamp tea tree, also known as cajuput. The Siamese gave this area the name Kelantan during the times when they were controlling it. Some people believe that the word Kelantan comes from the Kolaam Thana name which is Indian in origins, meaning Land of Kolaam. In time, this name became Kelantan, which fit much better with the language spoken by people from the area.
Kelantan’s history goes back in time quite a bit, with settlements found here which date to the prehistoric times. The early history of Kelantan has links with the Khmer Empire, Funan Kingdom, Sri Vijaya, Siam and Majapahit. During the 15th century, Kelantan’s ruler, Raja Kumar, got his independence from Siam and this area was quite an important trade centre at the time.
The state of Kelantan became a vassal to Malacca Sultanate in 1499. When Malacca fell, in 1511, the area known as Kelantan became divided and the small lords which owned it paid tribute to the Patani, a Kingdom from the Malay peninsula.
In the second part of the 18th century, a Patani warlord called Long Yunus managed to unify the Kelantan area. In 1800, his son succeeded him and his name was Long Muhammad, but ruled under the name Sultan Muhammad I. When this ruler died without having any kids, a civil war broke out, for control over the throne. The winner was a nephew of his, which managed to win in 1835, when he became Sultan Muhammad II. He had an alliance made with Siam, which allowed him to create a Kelantan state which had a basis in Kota Bharu.
In 1909, a treat between the Siamese and the English was signed and the Thais gave up any claims they had over a number of territories, including Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan. In the end Kelantan became one of the states of Malay and it had a British Adviser.
The Japanese invaded this province first when they came to Malaya, in 1941, on December 8. Kelantan was ruled by Siam once again while it was occupied by the Japanese but it was taken back by the British when Japan was defeated.
In 1948, on February 1st, Kelantan entered the Malaya Federation. In 1957, on August 31, these states got their independence. In 1963 Kelantan became a Malaysian state.

Why I love violin…………….

"It produces such beautiful sounds and music"

I love the violin probably because I
love the way it can tell a story. Travel through time and revive
those old Earthy song and embellishing the imagination to a new
place. There is also something fresh, it's rustic sounds evokes the
certain harmonies in which I always seem to surrender to the mystery
of it. Maybe it's the beauty of a soloist playing something
completely wonderful, moving fingers between chords? Or Maybe its the
sound of the triplets swashing those wondrous melodies in a
(*mild) acid to reveal a new chrome finish that music so needs
today!!!!!! Simply put, it's a soulful instrument! -
here i have put a video.. hope you all enjoy...... :D
